The Drupal website CMS (Content Management System) has won the first Hall of Fame Award at the 2009 Open Source CMS awards hosted by Packt Publishing.

This is the first year that this award has been given. Drupal has also won the Best Open Source PHP CMS award.

Kieran Lal - a spokesman for Drupal - is quoted as saying that the reasons for Drupal winning the award were because it had been improved by: "adding internationalization, enhancing security, facilitating customization, increasing extensibility, and easing the user experience."
